Frequently asked questions
What is Express Entry?
Express Entry is an online system Canada uses to manage immigration applications from skilled workers. It covers three programs: the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Worker Program and the Federal Skilled Trades Program. Source: Canada.ca: Immigrate through Express Entry.
How does an Express Entry invitation round work?
You create a profile and enter the pool. IRCC invites the candidates with the most points in rounds. If you are invited to apply, you fill out the application, and IRCC reviews it and makes a decision. Recent rounds are listed on our Express Entry draws tracker. See the tracker. Source: Canada.ca: Immigrate through Express Entry.
How long will IRCC take to process my application?
It varies. IRCC says processing time depends on the type of application, whether it is complete, how quickly it expects to process applications already received, how easily it can verify your information, how long you take to respond to requests, and other factors. The times IRCC shows are not a maximum or a guarantee. See the tracker. Source: Canada.ca: Check current IRCC processing times.
When are CPP, OAS, the Canada Child Benefit and the GST/HST credit paid?
Canada.ca publishes a payment calendar with the dates for each benefit. It says payments are issued on the dates listed but may take a few days to arrive, and to wait 5 to 10 business days before contacting the program. Our benefit payment dates tracker lists the dated entries. See the tracker. Source: Canada.ca: Benefits payment calendar.
Is CanadaEver part of IRCC or the Government of Canada?
No. CanadaEver is an independent website. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of IRCC or any government, and it is not a law firm or an immigration consultancy. It does not sell visas, file applications or give advice about your own case. Source: CanadaEver Disclaimer.
Where do CanadaEver's figures come from, and how do I report an error?
Primary sources come first: Canada.ca, including IRCC, and the official websites of provincial and territorial governments. Time-sensitive numbers are stated with the date they apply to. If you find an error, email [email protected] with the page address; our Editorial Policy says we typically respond within 1-2 business days. Source: CanadaEver Editorial Policy.
Why trust CanadaEver
